There are only Three Rules on this Team.

1. Be a great person.  2. Be a great student.  3. Be a great athlete.   In that order.

We had such a terrific finale' to our racing season last week!

Congratulations to our Charlie Banks State Relay Champions (a first ever for our team!)

Reid led things off with the first leg of classic & set things up with coming in sixth. Parker took it from there with another classic leg and flew out of the stadium, picking 3 skiers off right then. What a lead he gave Isaac to skate the third leg and still hold on to the top spot for Tylen.  Tylen did his thing and brought the team to first place. On our home turf. What a sight!! WTG guys!

Following things up at the State Meet were the two races at hand, the 5k freestyle & 5k classic on the Silver & Cedar / Gold courses.

The Pursuit Race - is nothing to mess with at this level - with all the strong & fast Nordic skiers from all 8 sections in Minnesota.  Two incredible & awesome performances  played out by our first time State qualifiers - Lydia & Natalie, who showed up and got it done. Congrats to Lydia for a super 46th place finish & Natalie for knocking things out at 53rd!! Such great racing!

AND... Academically, all of our skiers know what to do in the classroom too!

Our Sections teams were notified of their awards for this season's brainwork.  The Girls Team took a GOLD status with a cumulative GPA of 3.91 and the Guys Team earned a SILVER plate & a GPA of 3.61. Nice job skiers!

So, what's next???

You've heard us coaches tell you, this is the best time to ski! Warmer temps & more daylight & super fast snow.  This is when your next season training begins!  Recently spotted were 6 ME / VA / EG / MIB skiers at GR putting in the k's.  Get together & keep skiing - the Pepsi Challenge is Saturday, March 2 at GR.  See info at bottom of this page.

End of Season Team Banquet- Sunday, Feb. 24th. 5-7 pm at the Biwabik Pavilion We'll be celebrating the team & our successful season with great food, warm memories, deserved awards,  and more.  Skiers, parents, siblings, grandparents, coaches & all other ski fans are welcome to come and help us wrap up the 2018/19 ski season & say so long to our seniors!

WEEK 14 - Practice, CB Relays & THE STATE MEET!
Feb 10, 2019, 8:17 pm

There are only Three Rules on this Team.

1. Be a great person.  2. Be a great student.  3. Be a great athlete.   In that order.

The official high school ski racing season is wrapping up this week.  It's been a terrfically fun & successful season of team togetherness!

It's so easy to see how much our team has improved from that first day of practice, Nov. 12th.  WHO KNEW we'd have such a top of the line team?

From our seniors to our sixth graders, the evidence of knowing how to ski, and to ski fast, was front and center.

The BONUS was all the fun we shared with each other whether it was racing, practicing, waxing or socializing.  SMILES, SPARKLES & STACHES - this team does it best!

The two big dates of last week, turned into many podium shows!

Congrats to our two STATE QUALIFIERS, Natalie & Lydia. These two ladies stayed steady through a day of uncertain ski racing conditions!

Lydia placed 4th & Natalie finished 7th, to earn their spots at the STATE MEET on Thursday.  The top two teams and the next 6 individuals not on a winning team advance to the state meet. For all the results,

Then our skiers of the JV & JH Championships on Saturday, were constantly going up for an award - in all divisions!

Top ten results was the theme of the day. CONGRATS to all of our first year skiers for completing your first season, and with over-the-top results!

The rest of the gang was showing their ski race know how too with a ribbon decorated field of finishes.

Find all the results here: http://stevestiming.org/jv_jh_champs_2_9_19.pdf

Cold Face on Apple iOS 12.1

At least this meteorologist / news writer -spins some humor- on what's coming our way....

The last couple days of practice really weren't all that bad and with a load of sunshine on Saturday, we we're delayering after climbing. Zipping & Buffing up on the downhills were a must.  We definitley felt like ski conquerors after.

Now on to the really cold stuff that is happening this week -and the do's & don'ts of our favorite winter sport...

1. Cover everything up. Buffs, Hats, Mittens, Eyeware, Layers up & down.

2. Hand & Toe warmers will be available.

3. Keep your body full of fuel to manage the cold stress.

4. Be FLEXIBLE with this week's schedule. IF we can't ski, we have some back up options planned.

Last week's race at Snowflake was inspiring to everyone that raced! Great job to all who stepped up to ski the Pursuit and sooo many awesome results in the JV & JH divisions too!  This is the route we know - super results showing up- at the right time!  Here's the link to the final standings at the Duluth East Invite: http://stevestiming.org/de_pursuit_1_23_19.pdf
